Axelsen becomes Denmark’s “Sportsperson of the year”.

There is not the slightest of doubt that the current competition in Badminton is the toughest among all these years and hence an abundance of talent has shown up in the Badminton world. Hence, there is no such dominating nation in the current scenario.
This increase in competition has definitely increased the chances of other players to perform and show their talent and thus in this series the player who has risen among all others and made a name for himself is the Danish ‘Wonder Kid’ Viktor Axelsen.
It is no doubt that the year 2017 belonged to only two persons both 24-year-old Viktor Axelsen and Kidambi Srikanth.
These players not only decreased the domination of China in the field of Badminton and succeeded in making a class of their own but also won a total of seven super-series titles combined in 2017.


The award of Danish “Sportsperson of the year”

It is no doubt that Axelsen success in the recent Danish history had a very big impact. He directly came into prominence when he defeated the Chinese great Lin Dan in the Bronze medal match in the Olympics semi-final. After which there has been clear dominance by the Danish champ in the international circuit and is the current world no.1.
He won India, China and, Japan open along with the BWF super-series finals but the most important he won the men’s singles titles in the World Championships.
Even his this win cannot be regarded as one-sided as he won this title in an open poll which took place on 6th January 2018 which includes the players like Caroline Wozniacki (Tennis), Christian Eriksen (men’s football) and many other star players in the Danish fraternity.
